Page Ownership

HHS must display a statement of content ownership or management on every page.


This standard is a site management tool that will enable quick identification of the ownership or management of a site should an error be found or complaint filed. Identifying content ownership may also serve to increase its credibility.


Every page must state “Content on this page maintained by (office)” at the bottom of the body of page and immediately above the footer.  The office named should be the one directly responsible for maintaining content (i.e., not “Office of the Secretary”).  It is not necessary to make this an email link and it is not advisable to include a telephone number.  (Note the relationship to the “Content Update Notice” standard.)
